Whenever poor data service is detected, Maps will automatically switch to offline mode wherein turn-by-turn directions, searches, store hours, and so on will continue to be available, reports Android Police. With the release of new Maps update, users can now save critical location data for offline usage, especially for areas affected with poor signal reception or data coverage.
